New Year Festival - “Ranhiru Abiman 2024”

 The "Ranhiru Abiman-2024" New Year festival held on April 26, 2024, at Stafford Sri Lankan School in Qatar was a momentous occasion for the school and the Sri Lankan community in Qatar. His Excellency Mr. M. Mafaz Mohideen, the Sri Lankan ambassador to Qatar, along with Mr. Salman Gaffary Mohamed Hilmi, the chairman of the board of directors, and Mr. Rohana Singhapura, the vice chairman of the board of directors, were the esteemed chief guests.

The event began with traditional Sinhala and Tamil New Year rituals, bringing nostalgic memories of Sri Lanka to life. Attendees enjoyed a variety of traditional games, including a dress pageant, pot-breaking, placing the eye on the elephant, and tug of war. The event also featured captivating dancing and musical performances, as well as a traditional drumming display, all choreographed by the talented teachers of Stafford Sri Lankan School. These activities added vibrancy and joy to the celebration, making it a memorable day for everyone involved.
